The Wallkill Valley Land Trust purchased the one-mile section of rail that connected New Paltz and Gardiner, NY in 1991. Huguenot Street

The Huguenot Street District sits on one of the most picturesque areas in New Paltz, NY. This 10-acre historic landmark was designated as a National Historic Landmark due to its dense concentration and variety of buildings that date back centuries ago when French Huguenots settled here after being sought out by religious persecutions from other countries around Europe including France itself! The Huguenot Street District is a 10-acre National Historic Landmark situated on the Wallkill River. Today, there are many buildings from as far back in time as the 1600s when New Paltz was founded by French Huguenots escaping religious persecution.

Mohonk Testimonial Gateway

The Mohonk Testimonial Gateway is a lonely reminder of the once-bustling resort that was L Lake Mohonk Mountain House. The rustic archway served as an entrance for more than 30 years until it closed down in the early 20th century. The historic gatehouse has been a landmark of the New Paltz community since it was designated as such by its commission in 2013. The gateway to the Mohonk Preserve Foothills is not just a trailhead, it’s an experience. You’ll find a historic tower, Humpo Marsh, the historic Brook, Pine Farms and Kleinekill.
