I met Jake and his crew this week and was immediately impressed! I work in self storage and am always looking for a company that I can feel comfortable with recommending to my people and I found them. They are friendly, polite, precise, careful, quick, reliable…I could just go on and on. They noticed someone on my property that needed a little help because that person was moving things on their own, and jumped right in! What would’ve taken him 2 hours, took these guys 15 minutes – and all done with a smile! I have a feeling I am going to go through tons of their business cards when someone asks for a mover. I only wish I could give them more stars!

I am highly disappointed – I was given a quote to move from my house. Every time I spoke to the girl the price was different, finally a neighbor moved and paid half of what this company was going to charge. On March 20th I paid the 49 to book my move and on March 21 I requested to have my booking cancelled and refunded. I have now asked 4 times to be refunded. I was told “3-5 business days” it has now been 9 business days since I was told I would be refunded and 11 if Saturday’s are included. Why should I have to give this company money when they didn’t do anything for me?????? Beyond upset………

Ian, Josh and Josiah were incredibly helpful and efficient. The job ended up being bigger than we initially thought; they were patient and stayed late to get everything done. Excellent team and service, will definitely work with them again.

James Shumaker, the owner, Jake, and Kate, might be involved in a scam or a criminal enterprise. They took out money, booked up a move and now they are unable to be reached or responsible. BEWARE OF THIS SERVICE! DO NOT USE.

I really enjoyed the vibe of this company. Kate was amazingly helpful and sweet. The guys that showed up were respectful, in uniform and very attentive. Overall this was the best moving experience I have ever had. Definitely highly recommended!

I just moved from Brooklyn to Stone Ridge. The entire process, from the quote to the move into my new home was calm and well organized. Kate’s quote was on point and reasonable. I absolutely loved this company. Kate (our account manager) was so helpful and knowledgeable. She provided me with a “Guaranteed not to exceed” flat rate price for my move via a virtual in-home estimate right from my iPhone. On move day, Joshua and the gang wore face masks, sanitized all our surfaces before wrapping all of my furniture and moving it out of my old house. Everything arrived at my new house undamaged and was set up exactly where I wanted it. Such a great experience, This in my opinion, is the only way to move… and to top it all off… I was given a free mug at the end. 🙂

I used this company to move my belongings from a place I had rented. Kate had given me a quote of $ 452 to do this move. Fast forward to the day of the move and I ended up paying $300 more on the day of the move. The people doing the move were not careful as I watched them force furniture though doorways and I watched them drop my gas grill, damaging the cover. They did not complete the move either, I ended up renting a truck and moving the rest of my things. Their employees claimed they had stuff on their truck from another shipment, I feel they lied and didn’t either didn’t want to be bothered or didn’t load the truck properly. It appears I’m not the only one who has paid a higher price in the day of the move after reading reviews on Google and Yelp. I had left a review on the companies Facebook page and shortly after Jake messaged me. He pretty much blamed me for rescheduling the move a few times and blamed me for not confirming the rate. He claims the rates had gone up since the initial quote which is hard to believe seeing the amount of the increase and the fact that the move was during the winter. Instead of trying to make things right he chose to block me. They require the final payment to be in cash, this should be a clue that something is not legitimate. When I brought this to his attention he said this was “ industry standard” it’s a shame he couldn’t have tried harder, as I need to have my things moved from my storage unit to a home I am closing on. Mover beware!

One of the best moving companies I’ve ever worked with and I’ve moved a dozen times in my life. This was the first time I truly had a seamless move. Awesome customer service and the movers were detail oriented and polite. I definitely recommend this company if you’re looking for something stress free and easy.

Your Hometown Movers are awesome! They moved us from a condo on the second floor to a local home and they did a really good job! They were super nice and you could tell they were extreamly experienced. They were like a well oiled machine. They took great care in wrapping everything, transporting and moving everything without damages. They made our move SO much less stressful. Highly recommend!!

Jake and his crew did an excellent job on my move. First, all the pricing was clearly laid out and easy to understand. Other movers in Hudson Valley made their quotes hard to read. Your Hometown Mover was different. Second, they were extremely efficient and wasted no time while on the clock. I had to actually suggest that the movers take a break because they worked so hard. I give this company 5 stars and would definitely use them again.

These guys are wonderful! I had move with them on the 27th and couldn’t be happier with their services. Our movers were Ian and James, I believe. Both of them were incredibly respectful, efficient, friendly, and just all the qualities you’d want. They listened to what we wanted and got it done. In the little time that they were moving our things, they complimented some of our things and showed some of their personalities, which I really appreciated. It can be awkward when people providing you with a service are just totally inhuman, and it was not that way at all with these guys.

One of the things we had them move was a huge antique mirror, which arrived totally pristine. I’d trust them to move pretty much anything. They also assembled our bed for us and put the mattress on. Everything exceeded our expectations. Their rates are extremely fair and easy to understand and there are no surprises or questionable fees. I’d highly recommend them and would definitely call them again if I move in the future!

By the time they parked the truck in front of Townhouse, my furniture and 40 boxes and crates were coming off the truck. I have never hired a moving company before and now I will never move again without calling Hometown Movers. The BEST part was that the final price was within 10% of the quoted price and it was under $1,000. THANK YOU!!

I contracted with Hometown Movers to move a large crate from a loading dock to my house. The company was informed of the size of the crate, and agreed to move it. There was quite a bit of coordination required, which we got through, eventually. The pickup had to be rescheduled due to crew nonavailability. They showed up a bit late on the rescheduled date, with three people and inadequate equipment to complete the job. After half an hour of discussing things with the owner, they decided that they could not handle it, charged me for several hours of work and left.
